Flint, Faults and Other Fires

Polytunnel washing line

Purgatory

Black seaweed wraps around

Your molten silver spoon

Held up by scaffolding

Yellow bucket

Dog eat dog

Capitalism has killed

                                        Our communities

Slap up paraphernalia

G̶h̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶T̶o̶w̶n̶ Fever dream

Red wave of eviction notices

Salty tongues

Empty streetlamps

Under the winter moon

Cyclical

              Season

                             changes

Gorse in bloom

Blue bellied flies swarm

Summers festering streets

The golden hour fades

A30 blocked in retreat

Ice cream kiosks locked up

Pack up the sun chairs and

Flip flops

More Second home B&B’s

Another local family

Falls to its needs

Rising rent

Living in a tent

Food banks

The system is broken

Red paint

Sunken engine houses

Brick by brick

The wolf is at the door

Sofa surfing

Empty pockets,

And

sleeping on the floor

Rising need for

Emergency accommodation

We are living in a

Cardboard house nation
