ON THIS NIGHT

By Jennifer Wearn,

February 10, 2022

On this night
When the moon is full
We can stare and exist in a moment
Still, until white settles deep in our souls
And reminds us of home.

They see it the same
Across the ocean you ache to pass
Where voices sing back your song
And hear you
Better than I ever could.

I put my arms around you in the dark
Whilst November winds hold us here
Together like we know
Something unspoken
And sweet.

Stars die long before they reach your eyes
I must watch you glimpse
Shy, as they show us
All is to be
On this night.
